Delta Dental of Virginia Dental Practice Relief Fund

The Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation has launched a new program to provide financial support to our network dentists as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Please read the following information before applying.

The Dental Practice Relief Fund will be available to Delta Dental of Virginia participating dentists who meet the following criteria:

  • Participating dentist should be applying on behalf of a practice located in Virginia.
  • Dentist participates in one or more of the Delta Dental networks.
  • The practice is privately owned by a dentist(s) with no venture capital or corporate support. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), Community Health Centers (CHC) and Large Multi-State Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) are not eligible for this program.
  • Only one application per Tax Identification Number (TIN).

We will accept applications through April 21, 2020.

What is the Practice Relief Fund (PRF)?

  • Through the PRF, the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation intends to assist the dental practices in Virginia that have been significantly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and do not have a sufficiently strong financial position to reasonably sustain the practice through the recommended closure.
  • The PRF will provide up to $250,000 in grants to Delta Dental of Virginia participating dental practices.
  • Individual grants will range in size, up to a maximum of $7,500 per TIN.
  • Delta Dental of Virginia will evaluate applications with a goal of distributing funds to those in greatest need. While we hope to provide participating dentists with the amount they have requested, our goal is to provide as much assistance to as many practices as possible.
  • The criteria is based on factors that contribute to financial hardship, including how long a provider has owned a practice, the number of staff in a practice, dental education student loan debt and practice purchase debt. The location of practices in lower health equity areas will also be considered.
  • If you are in a strong financial position or have other means of supporting your practice, we ask that you not apply for the PRF so that we can fully fund those practices with the most acute need.

How to apply

We will only accept one application per TIN. Applications will be accepted through April 21, 2020. We will confirm we received your application within 7-10 days and will make a decision before April 30, 2020.  Click on the button below to apply.

We recognize that the impact of COVID-19 will be felt by all practices across the state. We ask that practices in a stronger financial position access other means of support for their practices.
